Google reader

22 June, 2006

No he sido suficientemente claro?

You may have arrived here just by chance, or you may read me often. In that case, you may want to know when I post or update. Or you may read 15 or 20 blogs and think it's a pain in the ass to open all'o'em, all days, just to check if they've updated.

There are some ways to tell the others you've post something new, like changing your nick in any instant messaging system.

So allow me to introduce you the feeds and their good friends the feed-readers. What is a feed? Well, grosso modo, each time you update your blog, if you have the option checked, a notification is sent to a server, that delivers it to all your subscriptors. Not clear enough? Think about a magazine you've suscripted to, and each time they have a new issue, they send it to you.

Thus you need to activate your feeds in order to people know when you update, and you need a feed-reader to know when your favorite writers post something. There are many, but I use Google Reader. It's as easy as create your own Google account, and insert the URL of the blogs you wanna subscribe to. The Reader finds out the feed by its own. At the beggining you may recive some 'updates' that are actually old, but for sure you'll recive all the new ones.

I hope I've been clear enough. If I haven't, you can always try to ask me or, better, STFG, RTFFAQ or press F1.
