No sé vosotros, pero yo toda la vida había usado vacilar en otro sentido. Pero,... leído en la wikipedia:

Vacilando is a Spanish term for the act of wandering when the experience of travel is more important than reaching the specific destination.

John Steinbeck (in Travels With Charley: In Search of America, 1962) wrote:

In Spanish there is a word for which I can't find a counterword in English. It is the verb vacilar, present participle vacilando. It does not mean vacillating at all. If one is vacilando, he is going somewhere, but does not greatly care whether or not he gets there, although he has direction.

Y más aún, si buscamos la definición de la RAE:

vacilar.

(Del lat. vacillāre).

1. intr. Dicho de una cosa: Moverse indeterminadamente.

2. intr. Dicho de una cosa: Estar poco firme en su estado, o tener riesgo de caer o arruinarse.

3. intr. Dicho de una persona: Titubear, estar indecisa.

4. intr. coloq. Col., C. Rica, Cuba y Guat. Gozar, divertirse, holgar.

5. tr. Engañar, tomar el pelo, burlarse o reírse de alguien.

Ahí queda eso, amigos. Nunca te echarás a la cama sin aprender algo nuevo.
